The plan by Metaplace to enable users create a virtual world and enable use of social networking conventions for the users to enjoy is now backed up with the fact that it had accumulated over $6Million of fund to be able to push on with the project. The team is led by Crescendo and Charles River Ventures. There are also indie financiers like Marc Andressen and Ben Horowitz. metaplace hopes to create a virtual world for the users to use to communicate and interact across the globe. It will use an open platform. The huge vision of the project is to spread the habit of collaboration, socialization and commerce inside the virtual world. The question still remains, will it be able to thrive where There.com and Secondlife have failed?
