Since it was formally announced that Google is now the largest ad company in the world, Microsoft seems to be really insecure after falling behind and it has started the soap opera of the Internet giants.Ever since the year started, there have been talks between Microsoft and Yahoo (more of an effort from Microsoft) to have an agreement to acquire the search engine in exchange for an estimate of 45 billion US Dollars.Yahoo seems to be calm in this arrangement, but has tricks up its sleeve.
Yahoo in turn, to fend off Microsoft’s offer, is currently listening to the offer of AOL, Microsoft’s arch-nemesis, but if you get to look at AOL’s relationship with other giants, Google seems to own 5% of the Time Warner-owned company.Watch out for the next episode as to what will happen next to our favorite Internet characters.

It was declared from a reliable source of the Apple Insider last year that the production of the Mac Mini or any other developments for this device will be put to a halt. But three months after that news break, it was announced by the Cupertino company that they will be releasing drop-ins of the product with an Intel Core2 Duo as its processor. The news (or rumor) site says that it is just an add in and no engineering was required for the added processor. But in a recent post last March 21 says that:
Among the improvements destined for the new lineup are 45-nanometer Core 2 Duo mobile chips starting at 2.1GHz with 3MB of shared L2 cache, an 800MHz front-side bus (up from 667MHz), and a step up to the same Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics processor employed by the existing line of 13-inch consumer MacBooks.
With this news, it seems that all system in terms of engineering and production will be put in full steam.

As if the EU hasn’t just banned the Pirate Bay people and sent them into their respective cells, here comes Norway-based, Moot, a file sharing service that allows locally linked individuals connected through the same WiFi connection. They can be friends, strangers or even the police for that matter as long as they have the necessary software installed allowing them access to the file-sharing capabilities of the software. On your mobile, you get a sort of radar screen that shows the relational location of registered members who have the software installed. It is still in it’s infancy and for it to be of any use for anybody. Read the rest of this entry »

From geo-tagging, where digital pictures were loaded with locational data from an attached GPS receiver to today’s geo-caching which is a way of reminding you where you wrote note, took a picture or did something online while on the move, the file sharing service Drop.io allows geocoding of all your files that have been uploaded to their system and that’s just the beginning with more features to come. You not only get to share content with the world, you also get to access your content, quickly through an abbreviated URL making it available anytime and every time as long as you have an internet connection. Like dropping candy for Hansel and Gretel to pick-up, you gain the ability to browse a map representing a specific area, move your mouse around and find stuff (files, notes, pictures or just about anything you deem fit to upload to their servers). They may have been in talks a few months back about a possible merger but they’re back at it again, Google Inc and Yahoo are now neck to neck in the image search market with Yahoo improving by leaps and bounds as they improve on their search engine design and capabilities. Google has long been the search engine of choice for a long time mainly due to the speed and capabilities of their search engine and their massive server banks that till recently have been unknown as to their existence(Images were leaked of Google’s vast data centers being housed in 40 footer container vans away from the peering eyes of anybody who may be out to get even or do the company harm).

Instant Messengers are one of the greatest innovations in the internet that it ever had. The only problem with it was that they seem to be limited to their own clients. However, with the rise of 3rd party IM clients like meebo, the walls of division are coming down.
Meebo is an instant messaging software that runs inside a Web browser, as AIM Express, which supports multiple IM services, including Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, AIM, ICQ, Jabber and Google Talk. Meebo makes instant messaging services more accessible to users who are unable or unwilling to download the software necessary to implement them.
It has a ton of great features like changing your wallpaper and themes, however it won’t tbe able to do the features specific for Yahoo Messenger and the other lot.
